We are looking for a(n) Press Apprentice Lead to setup and operate front end equipment.
This position is currently open and reflects a replacement position due to an internal transfer, promotion, or departure
Responsibilities
When your actions lead to success:
- Ensure all health & safety policies are understood and practiced by Press Apprentices, including lockout tagout procedures
- Mentor/coach Press Apprentices on:
- Set-up and operation of front-end equipment, including robotics
- Run-list understanding and importance of proper counts
- Assisting Team Leaders in makereadies and PMs
- Customer expectations of skid and bundle quality
- Preventative maintenance of front end equipment
- Working with team leader, provide direction to Press Apprentices to balance work demands and breaks
- Provide support to front end processes on all presses when required
- Troubleshoot and complete basic repairs. Complete Interal work order requests, when necessary
- Monitor and coordinate activities going through the automated palletizing line
- Communicate with Team Leaders and Press Apprentices to ensure maximum efficiency of front end processes
- Ensure all preventative maintenance is completed, as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and complete reports, including but not limited to: safety inspections for Genie lift, daily preventative maintenance and workplace safety inspections.
- Assist press crews during make readies and other related production requirements.
- Must be able to upgrade to and advance to Roll Operator positions when required.
- Provide input to create standards and procedures required to ensure the health and safety of employees.
- Demonstrate pride and ownership of equipment
- Perform any other function as requested by Team Leader
- Ensure production levels are maintained to meet customer requirements
- Follow and promote SafeStart practices
- Adhere to 5S workplace organization standards
Qualifications
When your expertise drives us:
- Must have at least 1 – 3 years of manufacturing experience
- Must be organized and practice time management to stay on top of production schedules
- Demonstrate TC Calgary’s core values of Respect, Innovation, Teamwork and Performance
- Stacker Certification is required
- Previous experience in the robotic area
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with different departments
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
- Trouble shooting equipment and problem-solving skills are essential
